Seminar Series on Political Economy – Spring 2026: Session #4 with Ismael Yrigov Cadena

This spring, the Political Economy Master’s programme (Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon) and PhD programme (Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon, ISEG – University of Lisbon, and FE – University of Coimbra) are hosting a seminar series on pressing issues in capitalist societies, held at Iscte from March 3 to May 28, 2026.
The upcoming session "Housing accessibility and class: missing links?", presented by Ismael Yrigoy Cadena (University of the Balearic Islands), will take place on 14 May 2026, at Iscte, Building 4, Auditorium A306, at 18:00.

"URBAN/RURAL: The Food Issue" with Teresa Marat-Mendes, at Open House Lisboa

DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte researcher Teresa Marat-Mendes will take part in a debate on ‘The Food Issue’, in conversation with Esther Lohri (Slow Food) and Francisco Moura Veiga (The Good Life Research Studio), to reflect on the role of architecture and urban planning in the functioning of the food system.
The event, promoted by Open House Lisboa, will take place on 9 May, at 17:30, at the Mercado do Bairro Padre Cruz in Lisbon.

New Science article proposes demand-side goals for energy and climate resilience.

A new study published in Science argues that governments must adopt three integrated targets for energy demand by 2035, stating that climate policy will fall short if it focuses solely on how energy is produced and continues to neglect how it is utilized. The study was led by Nuno Bento, researcher at DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte.

Ana Oliveira, researcher at DINÂMIA'CET – ISCTE and coordinator of the Sonic Paradise project, has been invited to moderate the roundtable "What a Healthy Lisbon Nightlife Looks Like" at the Lisbon Dance Summit 2026.
The session will take place on 29 April at Fábrica de Unicórnios, in Marvila, bringing together ten professionals from across the nightlife, electronic music, and cultural sectors — including artists, promoters, cultural producers, photographers, and night-time economy specialists.

The exhibition Lucio Costa Archive draws on the personal collection of the renowned urban planner, which was donated by his family to the Casa da Arquitetura in 2021. Curated by Ana Vaz Milheiro in collaboration with Leonor Matos Silva (both researchers at DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte), Lucio Costa Archive opens on 18 April at Casa da Arquitetura, with a programme featuring two days of free activities, and will run until 13 September 2026.

The exhibition, on display at the CCB until 26 April, presents a panoramic overview in tribute to half a century of democracy in Portugal, thus serving as an important document for our country's contemporary history.

The Youth Employment Observatory and the City-Regions Transitions Observatory participated today at the Iscte Open Day 2026. The activities, designed for highschool students, were organized and led by DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte researchers João Loureiro (Youth Employment Observatory), and Teresa Marat-Mendes, (Coordinator of the City-Regions Transitions Observatory).
DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte thanks the involved researchers for their participation and commitment to bringing scientific research closer to a younger audience, inspiring and enlightening future generations of university students.
