The researcher Ricardo Paes Mamede, in an interview to CNN Portugal, argues that the labour market in Portugal is not rigid and that the Government’s proposed amendments to labour legislation will result in an "enormous reduction of the negotiating power" of workers, which has implications not only for their income but also for their living conditions.
