DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte researcher holds that the concept of home is changing because we are in a deep housing crisis.

In preparation for the upcoming  ECIE 2026 conference, the INITIATE project and the CERERE project are organizing two pre-conference webinars, to be held on 16 September (2-3 PM and 3-4 PM, respectively).

"Raul Lino and The City", by DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte researcher Paulo Manta Pereira, published as a preprint in 2016, has been shortlisted for the Popular Preprints of the Decade Award. This paper, which was later published on Enq journal, focuses on architect Raul Lino's work, eleven case studies encompassing architectural projects, urbanistic plans and technical advice in the first half of the 20th century in Portugal.

The exhibition, which results from the research project Homes2Live | Inhabiting the Revolution: Perspectives on social transformations and spatial productions from occupied houses in Bairro das Amendoeiras, in Lisbon, will be open from September 15th to 19th 2026.

How can the housing crisis be solved? That is the question up for discussion tomorrow night on the RTP Açores programme 'Grande Debate', with contributions from DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte researcher Lídia Fernandes as part of an expert panel.

Climate action can improve people’s quality of life, and strategies targeting how energy and resources are used may generate particularly broad benefits.

This is the main conclusion of a new study published in Communications Sustainability, a Nature portfolio journal, co-authored by DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte researchers Nuno Bento and Tiago Louro Alves. The research combines energy-system modelling across 18 countries with representative surveys in Brazil, China and the Netherlands, assessing impacts on health, energy security, employment, household income, environmental conditions and equity.

DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Edgar Morin (1921–2026), who died on 29 May 2026.

Edgar Morin was a leading intellectual figure and a constant source of inspiration for the scientific identity of the research unit. His work, particularly his reflections on the epistemology of complexity, transdisciplinarity, the ecology of action, and polycrisis, has provided an important conceptual framework for internal debate and for the strategic development of knowledge on the dynamics of socio-economic and territorial change.

Nuno Bento, researcher at DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte, helps us reflect on the current state of affairs regarding the energy transition, warning us: without looking at the demand side, “the share of renewables in final consumption will grow more slowly and the transition will become more expensive”.

On the 7th and 8th of May, Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon hosted the 8th Edition of the DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte Workshop.
