On the 7th and 8th of May, Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon hosted the 8th Edition of the DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte Workshop. Under the theme "Contemporary and Future Dynamics", this year edition provided a privileged space for the research community to reconnect and to promote in-person scientific debate over the course of two days.
The pre-workshop event began on May 7th with strategic meetings for the Research Groups (Innovation and Labour; Governance, Economy and Citizenry; and Cities and Territories). Afterwards, Elizabeth Challinor led a hands-on training session focused on scientific writing and publication.

The second day was structured around three central thematic sessions:
The future of innovation, transition, and governance;
The future of participation, collective action, and public mediation;
The future of work, territories, and sectoral policies.
Across these sessions, nine papers were presented by Isabel Salavisa, Gonçalo Rodrigues Brás, Sérgio Lagoa, Cristina Nunes, Ana Carolina Farias, Joana Varajão, Amarílis Felizes, Ana Cravinho, and Rita Calvário.

The event also featured the launch of issue no. 5 of the Passagens journal and the presentation of the DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte Ethics Council, which was created in 2026.

A major highlight of the day was the strategic panel addressing the future of research funding. Moderated by Fátima Suleman, this debate brought together three of the Centre's researchers currently leading projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC): Ana Vaz Milheiro, Joana Lages, and Ricardo Agarez.

The workshop concluded with a keynote lecture delivered by Carlos Farinha Rodrigues (ISEG), who offered an in-depth analysis on the future of inequality and child poverty.

Marked by enriching debates and presentations, this year's edition served as a space for research exchange, intellectual reflection, and the promotion of the work developed at DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte, fostering a stimulating and collaborative environment, encouraging dialogue across generations and fields of research.
