Statement of condolence on the passing of Edgar Morin (1921-2026)

DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Edgar Morin (1921–2026), who died on 29 May 2026.

Edgar Morin was a leading intellectual figure and a constant source of inspiration for the scientific identity of the research unit. His work, particularly his reflections on the epistemology of complexity, transdisciplinarity, the ecology of action, and polycrisis, has provided an important conceptual framework for internal debate and for the strategic development of knowledge on the dynamics of socio-economic and territorial change.

At this time of mourning, DINÂMIA’CET-Iscte pays tribute to his extraordinary intellectual legacy and to the decisive contribution he made to advancing our understanding of the complex challenges facing contemporary societies.
