Religious heritage is increasingly at the center of an important European debate: how can we breathe new life into historic religious buildings while preserving the values, memories, and meanings they contain?
This question is at the heart of an article published in the "Vícios" section of Expresso newspaper, by João Diogo Correia, following an online conversation with DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte researcher Rolando Volzone during his research exchange at the University of Extremadura in Cáceres, Spain.
Reflecting on a theme that has marked much of my research over the past few years - the future of religious heritage in Portugal and Europe - more than discussing whether these spaces should be transformed into hotels, libraries, museums, or other facilities, Rolando Volzone believes the most important question is: How can we care for these places without losing what gives them meaning?
